During early 2013 the owners of Donington Park decided to submit an outline application for nine new buildings at the “Western Paddock”. This was a speculative scheme with a view to building out the development to meet tenants requirements. Everything is Somewhere prepared and submitted the application which was approved in August 2013. During the early Autumn Donington Park agreed terms with “Formula E”, the organisers of the worlds first electric single seater race series, to locate their Head Quarters at the Circuit. Formula E comprises of 10 teams with racing around the world on street circuits. Donington Park was seen as an ideal location with the outline permission in place with buildings tailored to their requirements and with direct access to the race track for testing.
The reserved matters application was submitted based on providing Formula E with an office and stores and 5 buildings each accommodating two teams and this was submitted in September 2013 and approved in December.
Work on the site commenced immediately with completion of the development and handover to Formula E in May 2014.
