Mansfield Bricks operation has been operational since 2010. The permission allows the plant to run 24 hours a day which it is currently doing to meet demand. We were asked to assist with varying the conditions of the planning permission to firstly remove a noise condition and secondly seek greater flexibility on vehicle movements.

The manufacturing process itself is very quiet due to the noise attentuation of the process building. When Council Officers inspected the site the manufacturing process was not audible at the site boundary. However we were concerned that the existing noise condition was no longer suitable. We engaged the services of Advance Environmental to assist with demonstrating this aspect and  the Council's Environmental Health department agreed that the condition was no longer fit for purpose. The solution was therefore to remove the planning condition and associated noise limits and replace it with an Environmental Noise Plan. This Plan provides for as robust process to investigate any noise complaints and if required implement the appropriate remediation measures.

The second aspect was to seek permission for a wider window for the "HGV" movements associated with the operation of the site. These fall within three catagories, cement deliveries, aggregate deliveries and product dispatch. We have now secured permission to allow cement delieveries at any time from 05:00 on Monday through to 16:00 of Saturday and aggregate deliveries plus product disptach over a wider timeframe each day.

The application was considered by Mansfield District Council Planning Committee, with officers recommendation for approval, last night and was approved. As part of the application we worked closely with Mansfield District Council which included various site visits to view the delivery operations.
